Instructors, counselors, and administrators all play a significant role in a student’s pursuit of a career in welding. An educator’s responsibilities cover a wide spectrum; from assessing interests and abilities, to teaching in the classroom, to ensuring students are offered an industry recognized, widely transferable training certificate/degree. These are critical and impact a student’s successful transition into the workforce.
The West Texas Energy Consortium works to provide educators at the K-12, post-secondary, and university level with information and resources to further student success in welding and other energy related training programs.WTxEC also offers scholarships to dual credit and post-secondary students in qualifying programs. Collaboration and a regional approach are critical to solving workforce challenges, now and in the future.

The National Center for Welding Education and Training, also known as Weld-Ed, is housed at Lorain County Community College in Elyria, Ohio. Weld-Ed is a collaboration of community colleges, workforce agencies, universities, employers, and business members representing the welding and materials joining industry. The mission of Weld-Ed is to expand the number of high skilled welding technicians, while at the same time addressing needs within the overall welding and materials joining industry.
